Newborn Sessions
I won’t lie, newborn sessions are my favorite! I love the challenge that each session brings, all the cuddles and soothing, finding the perfect prop for the perfect pose, I don’t even mind the poop and the pee (it will happen!). I love every detail from the flakey skin on their fingers and toes, to the tiny smile they give right before they drift off to sleep. You forget how quickly newborns change and develop, that’s why I believe newborn photography is so important.
When should I book my session?
It is best to contact me while you are still pregnant. I understand that newborns come on their own time, but I like to have your estimated due date on my calendar to ensure room for your session. If you are having a scheduled birth we can book your session date from there. Don’t worry if you don’t contact me until after your new one arrives, I will do my best to find you a date and time as soon as possible!
When is the best time to photograph my new baby?
Babies are best photographed in their first ten days of life! When they are this new, they are extra sleepy, and easier to pose. I have posed babies as old as 4-5 weeks, but it can take longer and can be harder!
Where will my session be held?
I always recommend clients hold their session at my home studio! I will have all of my props available, the heat cranked high, and you don’t need to do a thing! If you are not available to travel to my home I can come to yours. I will bring a limited amount of props and ask to crank up the heat in your house and use a room with excellent window light.
Do I need to bring anything to my session?
All that you need to bring with you on the day of your session is plenty of bottles for baby, and extra diapers. If you have a special hat, blanket, or family heirloom, please feel free to bring those along and I will use them during our session.
What do I do during our session?
This is a great question! A lot of parents read a book or magazine, play a game on their phone, even take a little cat nap! Please feel free to relax and take a break during our session. Its a great opportunity to sit back and watch your new baby snooze while I take care of the rest!
Please let me know if you have any additional questions!
